Suzuki's Iron Lady Merve Güney!
A Turkish woman reached the top of Ironman, one of the most challenging races in the world. Suzuki Turkey's #IfWomenWant athlete Merve Güney was ranked first in her age group and second in the women's overall ranking in the Full Ironman race, which is considered to be the top triathlon sport, by non-stop covering 226 km in 10 hours and 9 minutes. In the race, where elite athletes are accepted, the athletes reach the finish with 3.8 km of swimming and 180 km of cycling in a row, followed by 42 km of running.
Suzuki Turkey Marketing Director Şirin Mumcu Yurtseven said, "As Suzuki, we are very proud of Merve, the athlete of our #IfWomenWant team, which emphasizes that women will be successful in every field if they want and that we support to draw attention to gender equality. Again, she did not surprise us and achieved a magnificent performance. We will continue to support her and all successful women."
Career and sport at the same time
Merve Güney, who managed to be the first in her category in the Ironman race, one of the most challenging sports organizations in the world and which was held in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, is also a finance professional. Stating that she can do sports together with a successful career journey, Güney said, "The specific difficulties of business life in Istanbul are known. Although it is not easy to create time in the crowd and pace of the city, it is possible to train intensively with a bit of dedication. I would like to invite everyone -whether they have a sporting past or not- to take this path. As long as they want, the rest comes naturally" and highlighted that she thanks the Suzuki Turkey team for their support.
